Of course you should be brushing your skin, in fact you should be brushing daily before your morning shower! Dry brushing is an ancient form of skin care that has tons of perks for just 10 minutes a day. Dry brushing promotes exfoliation of dead skin cells, unclogging pores, stimulates the lymphatic system, plus added stress relief, and increased energy. All that from a simple brush?
The type of brush you choose is VERY IMPORTANT, you will want to choose one made of natural bristles so that the brush will not be to abrasive on your skin. I found one on Amazon below, this is perfect length to reach your back, but not to long it's award.
Now that you have the brush, your probably wondering "how do I do this"?
It's very simple 1. Do not apply moisturizer. Start at the feet. Brush long upward strokes toward the heart. Make sure to always brush in this direction, as this is the way the lymph drains. 2. Brush over the same area a couple of times, and do not brush sensitive areas. Brushing can take anywhere from 5-15 minutes depending on how thorough you want to be. Or you can do quick brushing everyday if you are in a time crunch, and once a week include a detailed 15 minute brushing. 3. Wash your brush off, and get in the shower. Very simple.
Do not use brushing on your face, and do not broken skin. I suggest washing your brush with soap in water to extend it's life.
Brushing may leave you a little red the first few times, but it should not hurt. If it is hurting, your brush may be too stiff, or you may be applying too much pressure to the brush. Dry brushing has been found to help improve cellulite appearance and assist in exfoliation of dead skin cells, unclogging of pores. While stimulating the lymphatic system, plus adding stress relief, and increased energy. I recommend at least trying it for 30 days. You will be surprised with the results!
